Timing & Tradition
The Pushkar Camel Fair is held every year in the Hindu month of Kartik (usually October–November) and concludes on the full moon day of Kartik Purnima.
According to Hindu belief, taking a holy dip in Pushkar Lake during Kartik Purnima is considered highly auspicious. Over time, this spiritual gathering merged with local livestock trading traditions — giving birth to today’s grand cultural fair.
So, while the exact dates change each year, the timing always coincides with the Kartik full moon, making it one of the most spiritually and culturally rich festivals in India.
